So I was able to keep my hair up from June 16th until August 30th. Can you believe it? I will be taking my weave out around the 28th or 29th but I get it redone on the 30th. This will be a world record. LOL! The next thing I get is a full weave with china bangs. I will be washing the hair I have in now and doing a deep condition on my own hair and protein treatment before a get it redone. I like to keep my hair in a protective style during the fall and winter months because I do a lot of damage to it. I use my hair products but I get so tempted to curl it with the iron or straighten it. This is how I preserve my hair and keep it healthy. I will come back to you with an update on length when I take this down in a few days.

This is what it looked like for my wedding!!!

No matter how much time and money is spent on perfecting hair’s health with products, hair health begins from the inside to the outside. Hair is part of the integumentary system, which is a bodily system, such as the nerves system. The integumentary system contains the following: hair, skin, and nails. The three parts of the body are related, but hair is different in the way that it grows from the inside to the outside of the head. People use a lot of different products to get a desired hair effect-healthy hair. However, people forget that healthy hair is a nice thing to have and it comes with taking care of your body with nutrients.

Unhealthy hair is not attractive. It is dull, dry, and may have a lot of split ends. It may appear to be frizzy. Poor nutrition is the most common reason for unhealthy looking hair. It is a diet that is poor, which is high in sugar, salt, and animal fat that is only bad and not good for your hair. Those types of diets create added stress on the body. The body then needs more nutrients. Vitamin B gets depleted without eating right. The B- vitamins have a lot of different functions for humans. The functions of B-vitamins ranges from biotin preventing hair loss to biotin helping fingernails get and remain healthy. It is not hard to eat a food that contains vitamins B and C, such as bread or eggs. I like to eat the latter sometimes. It is not hard to incorporate these vitamin-enriched foods into your diet, because they are relatively inexpensive to buy. Vitamin B and C are necessary for hair growth, hair color, and good circulation. Enough of vitamin B and C in your diet will keep individual strands of tresses from breaking.

A multivitamin is good for your hair, but it is neccessary to get the right nutrients from the foods that we eat. If you are like everyone else, you probably do take multivitamins. Vitamin A should be a part of your mulitvitamin, which will give you a healthy scalp, because it works wonders for skin. Vitamin A is found in apricots. I enjoy the latter. You should try not eating junk foods or consuming unhealthy drinks that will make the body’s nutrients more depleted. I avoid a lot of chocolate, which is a popular junk food. Some drinks, such as coffee contain a lot of caffeine. I do not drink coffee at all.

Eight glasses of water per day is absolutely needed for healthy hair. You should drink water to clean out your system. This way, your body will be hydrated and your hair will also get more moisture. I drink water everyday, because I like it. It is always there at my convenience and cheap. There are many benefits to drinking water. Water also quenches your thirst and aids in food digestion so that your body will not get so stressed out and will not need to work harder to digest foods as it does without water.

The hair is ninety-eight percent proteins. Locks are dead protein. As soon as hair grows out of the head, it is dead. Hair needs protein to get healthy. There are so many protein rich foods. Some protein rich foods are the following: meats, seeds, and nuts. The availability of these foods makes it easy to get them. There are always basic foods, such as these that are found at the local grocery store. As a partial vegetarian, tuna is an option that I usually eat. I do not eat any kind of meat, except for fish. Fish is a good source of protein. Tuna is also a good source of essential fatty acids. Omega-3 fats are found a lot in cold-water fish. Essential fatty acids or EFAs should be added to the diet to get omega-3 fats and omega-6 fats. These EFAs need to come from an outside source, because the body does not produce them. Omega-6 fats are found in< corn and some other foods.

Vitamin b5

Vitamin B5, or pantothenic acid as it is scientifically known, is one of the most useful vitamins to use when it comes to growing one’s hair. Vitamin B5 is a vitamin that can work to help with various processes in the body that are used to help to promote hair growth. It can also work to help with influencing the color of one’s hair.

Vitamin B5 Boosts Metabolism In The Scalp
An important part of Vitamin B5 comes from how it works to works to improve the body’s ability to release energy. When this is done the body can metabolize at a faster level. This is used to help with keeping fats from building up. This is a necessity in that this will work to help with improving blood flow in the scalp.

Vitamin B5 Improves Hair Thickness
Vitamin B5 is able capable to work to help with supporting hair growth in that it can get hairs to become thicker on the scalp. The vitamin can help to increase the diameter levels of follicles.

Vitamin B5 Improves Hair Color
In addition to getting hair to grow properly Vitamin B5 can also work to help with working to make hair brighter in color. The vitamin will keep oils from developing in the scalp at a fast rate and will also help to keep wrinkles from developing in the area. As a result of this hair will not become gray or white.

Foods That Have Vitamin B5
There are a number of helpful vitamins to check out with regards to this vitamin for hair growth. Some meats have plenty of this vitamin but fish products are by far the most useful ones to see with regards to Vitamin B5. Chicken eggs and any edible animal organs can also contain plenty of this vitamin. Whole grains and nuts also contain plenty of this vitamin.

A Quick Word of Caution
Despite the benefits of Vitamin B5 it should be noted that an excessive amount of this vitamin can impact the flow of nitric oxide in the blood. When this happens blood flow can be inhibited and hair can begin to fall out due to a lack of blood flow in the scalp. Therefore it will help to stay close to the recommended intake of four to seven milligrams of this vitamin each day.

Be sure to take a look at these things with regards to Vitamin B5. When the right amount of this vitamin is handled it can work to promote hair growth and to make one’s hair look its best at the same time.

Flat twists are a neat way to add a protective style to your hair repertoire. Regular two strand twists, which can hang loosely, are usually best for natural hair, but flat twists work well on natural and relaxed textures. They’re similar to cornrows, but may be more user-friendly to beginners; you work with two strands of hair at a time with flat twists instead of three, as you do with cornrows.

To begin flat twisting hair, start with a part at the hairline.
Continue the part you started at the hairline straight back to the nape of the neck. The end of a rat-tail comb is useful for making neat parts.
From the section of hair that you parted, begin working with a small section at the hairline. Now divide the small section of hair at the hairline into two equal parts.

Twist the two sections of hair around each other as you move back along this parted section.

As you twist the hair, gently incorporate hair from the parted section into the twist as you work back. It’s important to use the right tension so that you don’t cause any pain or damage the hair follicles with tight styling.

If the hair is long enough, you’ll reach a point where the twist is no longer attached to the scalp. You may want to secure the twist here, but it’s not necessary. Experiment and see what works best for you. Here, a small butterfly clip is used to keep the twist from unraveling. You’ll often find that the thicker and curlier the hair, the better it is at holding itself together without worry of coming untwisted.

Continue twisting the hair until you reach the ends. If desired, secure the ends with covered elastics or barrettes. Natural hair can usually secure itself without additional help.

Repeat the flat twists over the entire head. As you become more comfortable with your technique, you may find yourself creating parts that direct to one side instead of straight back, for more variety.

These are basic flat twists, secured at the nape with small butterfly clips. While this is a good choice for children, adult women may not want to sport accessories. You have other options in styling flat twists as well.

Types of hair color

The four most common classifications are ‘temporary’, ‘semi-permanent’, ‘demi-permanent’ (sometimes called ‘deposit only’) and “permanent”

Temporary hair color
Temporary hair color is available in various forms including rinses, shampoos, gels, sprays, and foams. Temporary hair color is typically brighter and more vibrant than semi-permanent and permanent hair color. It is most often used to color hair for special occasions such as costume parties and Halloween.
The pigment molecules in temporary hair color are large and cannot penetrate the cuticle layer. The color particles remain adsorbed (closely adherent) to the hair shaft and are easily removed with a single shampooing.
Temporary hair color can persist on hair that is excessively dry or damaged in a way that allows for migration of the pigment to the interior of the hair shaft. It lasts for about a few hours to 1 day.

Semi-permanent hair color
Semi-permanent hair dye has smaller molecules than temporary dyes, and is therefore able to partially penetrate the hair shaft. For this reason, the color will survive repeated washing, typically 4–5 shampoos or a few weeks. Semi-permanents contain no, or very low levels of developer, peroxide or ammonia, and are therefore safer for damaged or fragile hair. However, semi-permanents may still contain the toxic compound P-Phenylenediamine or other such ingredients.
The final color of each strand of hair will depend on its original color and porosity, so there will be subtle variations in shade across the whole head. This gives a more natural result than the solid, allover color of a permanent dye. However, it also means that gray or white hairs will not dye to the same shade as the rest of the hair. If there are only a few gray/white hairs, the effect will usually be enough for them to blend in, but as the gray spreads, there will come a point where it will not be disguised as well. In this case, the move to permanent color can sometimes be delayed by using the semi-permanent as a base and adding highlights.
Semi-permanent color cannot lighten the hair.

Demi-permanent hair color
Demi permanent hair color is permanent hair color that contains an alkaline agent other than ammonia (e.g., ethanolamine, sodium carbonate) and, while always employed with a developer, the concentration of hydrogen peroxide in that developer may be lower than used with a permanent hair color. Since the alkaline agents employed in dem-perms are less effective in removing the natural pigment of hair than ammonia these products provide no lightening of hair’s color during dying. As the result, they cannot color hair to a lighter shade than it was before dyeing and are less damaging to hair than their permanent counterpart.
Demi-permanents are much more effective at covering gray hair than semi-permanents, but less so than permanents.
Demi-permanents have several advantages as compared with permanent color. Because there is essentially no lifting (i.e., removal) of natural hair color, the final color is less uniform/homogeneous than a permanent and therefore more natural looking; they are gentler on hair and therefore safer, especially for damaged hair; and they wash out over time (typically 20 to 28 shampoos), so root regrowth is less noticeable and if a change of color is desired, it is easier to achieve. Demi-permanent hair colors are, in essence, permanent color and the darker shades in particular may persist longer than indicated on the packet.

Permanent hair color
All “permanent” hair color products and lighteners contain a developer, or oxidizing agent, and an alkalizing agent (most often ammonia).
When the tint containing the alkalizing ingredient is combined with the developer cause a chemical reaction that swells the hair permitting the tint to enter the cortex, where the melanin is located. The melanin is lightened and subsumed by the new color. The ammonia swells the cuticle of the hair to allow the color pigments to penetrate deep into the hair shaft.
Permanent color is truly permanent and will not wash out, although it may fade. New hair growth in the hair’s natural color will contrast with the colored section of the hair.
Permanent hair dyes can be removed by bleaching, or stripping with a color remover. Theoretically, a color remover can return hair to its natural color if the hair has been treated with deposit-only dye, but this process may be damaging.

Hair lighteners and bleaches
Bleaching, also referred to as hair lightening or decolorizing, is a chemical process involving the diffusion of natural color pigment or artificial color from hair. Hydrogen peroxide and ammonium hydroxide are frequently used. It has the side effect of raising of the cuticle, making the hair more porous.
If the hair has been colored, in order to go lighter it must first be cleansed or bleached. However, it is possible to lighten natural (virgin) hair with para dyes and hydrogen peroxide up to 4 levels depending on the product used
