Hello my lovelys! My name is KG. I am a licensed hair care professional and an aspiring business owner. I began following my passion and started doing hair 13 years ago. I started my natural hair journey in 2005 with a horrible big chop with no help, no education, and little determination. It was a great decision; nevertheless, I had no clue what I was doing. It wasn’t big on youtube, there were little blogs or magazines out there to assist me in products and styles, and there was NO ONE in Oregon who specialized in natural hair. Although I have been natural for over 6 years now, I have truly only been successfully taking care of my natural hair for 2 years due to lack of knowledge and enthusiasm.

In Oregon, being natural wasn’t the thing to do. No one knew how to take care of natural hair and I lost a lot of time and hair trying to do things to manipulate my natural mane. So my mother and I started researching and she started buying! LOL. Whatever she bought, I would use. It wasn’t until I went to cosmetology school that I noticed that the natural scene was growing more and more in Oregon, the predominantly white state. With a little more education, I decided to do research on my own and buy my own products to tell my clients about. I went to a few hair shows, talked to fellow stylists and natural hair gurus, and fell in love with the natural community and who we all represent.

So over the years I have decided to take matters into my own hands and research myself. This blog is a collection of the knowledge, tips and styles I have learned along my journey. These are styles, products, bloggers, and resources I have used myself. Some have worked and some were just plain disappointing, but I tried them for myself to see what works with MY hair. I encourage you to do the same and fall in love with your natural mane. My main goal is to be an encouragement and that this blog will be insightful and inspiring to those who are also natural, going natural or still considering the change. With faith in God and love of hair, you too can be an encouragement to others.
